STONEY hit the ground running with this emphatic victory
over local rivals Eyam. The first half was a tense
affair as both teams battled hard for midfield
superiority and scoring opportunities were few and far
between. However the second half was all one way traffic
as Stoney settled into their stride.
Scott scored the first when glancing in an in-swinging
free-kick from Dan Hodgekinson. It was Scott again who
scored the second when he produced a stunning headed
goal from a deep free-kick from Shaw.
Scott then wrapped up his hat-trick when he
bundled the ball over then line from a deep in-swinging
corner from Fox. Fox then completed the scoring when
Townsend fed Dan Hodgekinson whose neat through ball set
up Fox for a clinical finish.
Stoney's young substitutes Sheldon, Oldfield and Wright
gave confident performances in the second half the help
Stoney's cause. Man of the match for Stoney was
hat-trick hero Brendan Scott.
